London Unites for Palestine | Paul Hanes
England 2008 | 10 MIN.

On the 10th May 2008 about 23,000 people marched through London to demonstrate for Peace in Palastine. It had been out of the ordinary that Jews, Muslims and Christians had been on the streets together and even more remarkable that the media ignored it completely.

Voices from the Inside | Lucy Martens
Israel, West Jordan Land, USA, BRD 2008 | 64 MIN.

Voices From Inside is a documentary, based upon interviews with 16 Jewish Israeli voices of conscience.  Each representing a different facet within the peace movement there, the film traces Zionism from its beginnings to the reality that exists today, with brutal honesty.  Through their eyes and perspectives, it is a film about personal development, the evolution of consciousness within each mind, moving from a perspective of nationalist myths to a revelation regarding moral choices for their society - a society that is permeated and defined by militarism and denial. It is a system they perceive as occupying and destroying the lives of not only the Palestinian people, but simultaneously consuming itself in that process. These cross-generational voices have all chosen to break Israel's silence.  They have created a path of transcendence, reconciliation and solidarity, working together with the Palestinians, to forge a path for peace.

The People | Tamara Masri
Palästina, USA 2008 | 7 MIN.

“The People” is a personal narrative depicting a society living under oppression. Taking place in Jifna, Jericho, Jerusalem, Jaffa, and the winding roads in between, “The People” is a series of reflections based on various shots of Palestinian life. The two-week journey throughout the war-torn countryside revealed more of a human aspect of Palestinians, a side the world rarely gets to see. The film gives voice to a people simply longing to be understood, recognized, and free.

Marathon Beirut, for the Love of Lebanon | Deborah Harse
USA, Libanon 2008 | 80 MIN.

In the aftermath of the 2006 Israel Lebanon War, the Beirut Marathon Association chose not to cancel the event, but rather to hold it as a testament to Lebanese resilience. But just 5 days before the race, government minister, Pierre Gemayel, was assassinated. This was the 5th political assassination within two years. However, again they didn't cancel, but postponed the race by one week. Then 3 days before the rescheduled date, Hezbollah called for a rally to overthrow the government. There was concern that people would be fearful of coming out for the marathon, but it took place with 22,000 people, in solidarity, running or walking the 5 km, 10 km and 42 km races with 'For the Love of Lebanon' as the theme.
