China Shaken | Michael Zhao
China 2008| 9 MIN.

The big China earthquake, which rocked the whole nation, including those like me who are 9,000 miles away from the disaster zone. This is "China's natural version of 9/11," a monster earthquake that was followed by thousands of aftershocks and literally shook much of the nation. The images and stories in the video aren't a lot by number but they are POWERFUL enough to tell you the big-picture story that you probably wouldn't have seen elsewhere.

Follow your heart-China‘s new youth movement | Duncan Jepson
China, Hong Kong 2007 | 95 MIN.

The film explores the life and ideals of a new generation of Chinese, focusing on the beliefs, work and family of a number of China’s successful independent Hip Hop artists. The group, spread across China, believe in Old School values; self-expression, freedom and truth to one-self.
The film investigates the dynamic between the inflexible political environment and a modernising ancient culture, the issues that are affecting Chinese youth such as Chinese-ness, geography, freedom, family, information, consumerism, wealth and individuality.
Finally the film sets out to describe the high optimism of this new generation and the future that they want to build.
