Ghengis Blues | Roko + Adrian Belic
USA 1999 | 90 MIN.

Paul Pena played blues with the greats T-Bone Walker, B.B. King, and Bonnie Raitt. In 1995, the blind bluesman became the first American ever to compete in an unusual contest of multi-harmonic "throatsinging."Pena discovered Tuvan throatsinging on a shortwave program of Radio Moscow twelve years ago. Eleven years after he first heard throat singing, Paul Pena entered the National Theatre of Tuva to make history. Pena was honored by the Tuvan people, not only because he mastered kargyraa, but he also learned to speak their language. His friendship flourished with Kongar-ol Ondar, the throatsinging champion who had invited Pena three years earlier. Ondar hosted Pena as the bluesman experienced the country he once believed he would never visit.
"Genghis Blues" is a film about exploration and friendship. It is the story of a man whose struggle in life is not defined by conformity and rules but by an unquenchable curiosity, and love of music. Pena's story is truly an inspiration to all.

God made them blind | Richard Todd
Australia, Indonesia 2008 | 75 MIN.

This documentary tells of how ceramicist, John Fawcett, is devoting his life to reducing the enormous number of cataract blind people in Indonesia, after narrowly escaping his own death. His biggest challenge however, is convincing a nation that blindness is not God's punishment.
John Fawcett's life has been full of ' impossibles' . In 1983, after a medical accident, he was pronounced clinically dead. twice. He finally woke up , was given a week to live, ignored this deadline and lost his job, his life, his family and a wife he couldn't recognize
But this potters greatest challenge still lay before him. After miraculously recovering after nearly three years in hospital, including the return of his photographic memory, he was asked by the Governor of Bali to help nurse an ailing Indonesia, back to health.
God Made Them Blind' is the story of John Fawcett's seemingly impossible mission to reduce the phenomenal number of cataract blind people in Indonesia. It's a story about faith, tenacity, the clash of cultures and personal transformation. Our Australian hero will understandably face many challenges along the way, but ironically the most resistance will come from the very people he is trying to help. Slowly but surely this gentle man coaxes a fearful population to understand that the Hindu rules of Karma and the miracle of modern medicine can co-exist on the Island of the Gods.
